At Margate Middle, we are committed to expanding educational opportunities beyond the classroom. Currently, 63% of our students scored a Level 1 or 2 on the 2024 FAST Progress Monitoring 3 assessment, indicating they did not meet proficiency in reading. To address this, we will secure strategic partnerships to reduce or eliminate the costs of six educational field trips—two per grade level—ensuring all students can participate, regardless of financial constraints. These exceptional field trip opportunities will provide hands-on experiences that enhance background knowledge, ignite a passion for learning, and directly contribute to improved student achievement. By connecting real-world experiences to academic content, we anticipate growth in both reading proficiency and overall engagement. Additionally, these experiences will support our Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, which focus on decoding and language comprehension. As part of our incentivization plan, 100% of participating students will also complete a minimum of 10 community service hours, fostering responsibility and community engagement.
